We begin our interview with Lenny smiling and laughing commenting “people are like grapes – they come in bunches”, of course referring to the revolving groups of people coming into LSS & BCSC. Lenny is a Husband, Father, Waterman, and local Activist. He has been involved in the local politics since settling in the area 37 years ago; to-date he has been a surf/sport shop owner for 15 years. While Lenny would love the business to grow, he aims to one day pass it on to new blood who can continue the legacy.
LSS & BCSC builds on its Service and Success. Competent in what they sell and do, they pride themselves on the motto: ‘if they don’t do it; they don’t sell it’. Their goal is for customers to feel comfortable about walking thru the doors knowing they are being serviced by knowledgeable people. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced in the sports of surfing, biking, or skating, Lenny’s offers you the level of service that makes you want to come back. They welcome questions before, during, and after the sale – LSS &BCSC wants their customers to approach them with a problem, even if the product it not from their store.
Lenny believes the ‘cool factor’ is what grabs many to the sport of surfing; however, a good majority evolves beyond the need to ‘be cool’. A surfer is an environmentally conscious person with a zest for clean water, a healthy lifestyle, and well rounded via body, mind, and spirit. Surfing is a lifetime carryover sport – meaning it is passed from generation to generation thru family and friends. And with the advent of the internet and air travel, many are becoming their own personal weather forecasters to predict the waves and travel guides to seek out destinations around the globe. Thus his shop has evolved to supply the new needs.
